DC 37 opens its celebration of Black History Month

Today, DC 37 begins its celebration of Black History Month with its traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony at union headquarters at 6 p.m.

Throughout February, union locals will sponsor events, and the month will culminate with a showing of the play “Mandela” at 7 p.m. on Feb. 29. For tickets to the play, go to link below.

New York State Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie will be the featured guest at Local 371’s event on Friday, Feb. 5. The sponsors of the remaining events are Local 1407 on Monday, Feb. 8; the Political Action Committee on Thursday, Feb. 11; Local 2627 on Friday, Feb. 12 (featuring a performance of Motown hits by Cody Childs and the Soul Legends Band); the DC 37 Women’s Committee on Thursday , Feb. 18 (with the theme, “Stroll Down Memory Lane”), and Local 372 on Friday, Feb. 26. These events start at 6 p.m.
