MELS WORKSHOP for END OF LIFE DOCUMENTS: Wills, Health Proxies, Power of Attorney
Wednesday, August 5, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
DC 37 Municipal Legal Services and Volunteers of Legal services will host a Zoom webinar TODAY on end of life documents for union members at 5:30 p.m.
Learn from Stephen Shepard, supervising attorney of the Wills Unit at MELS and Peter Kempner, an attorney at Volunteers of Legal Service, about how to prepare a will, advance medical directive, and a power of attorney.
Sadly the COVID-19 pandemic has reminded us of the importance of end-of-life planning.
Over 22,000 NYC residents have died so far, many of whom were elderly or front line and essential workers. Yet the vast majority did not have a will or health care proxy.
Many other New Yorkers were incapacitated or hospitalized and had not designated someone to tend to their affairs through a power of attorney.
Learn how you can create these essential documents and give yourself and your family some peace of mind.
